San Francisco is a brunch town. What this means is that there are long lines at brunch-worthy restaurants serving this midday repast – long lines that I am not willing to stand in.
Truth be told, I’m not a breakfast or brunch person. I make an occasional weekend omelet but these are more often for dinner than for breakfast.
This weekend we enjoyed a generous picnic lunch, complete with apple pie, while taking in the annual Mountain Play at the amphitheater on Mount Tamalpais. With no appetite for dinner, a hearty brunch was in order the next morning.
